About Us

Hello my name is Darrin and I’m a child of the 70’s and teen of the 80's. I remember lots of the groovy things that went on in the 70s - I played guitar and listened to lots of hard rock music by Kiss, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, Rush and Van Halen.  I watched The Monkees & Batman every day on TV like it was a religious experience. I spent a lot of my time in the 80s break dancing, scratch DJing, riding my Super Goose BMX bike, playing my Atari 2600 & arcade video games in the bowling alley and programming my Atari 800 and Apple II computers.

I started Retro Rebirth in my home state of NJ in 2007 as an outlet to showcase the digital artwork I created based on the retro style designs of my past.  I try and focus on the vibes that I have always loved since I was child - classic rock, psychedelic rock, vinyl records, old school hip hop, retro video games, retro pop culture, classic TV shows, cult movies and geeky nerdy themes.  I prefer art that has a certain funky, cartoon, psychedelic pop art look so I try and represent that style as much as possible.

My "world famous" drink coasters that I've been selling on Etsy and at vinyl record fairs and craft shows all over the country for years are hand made by me with my professional heat press in my studio currently based in North Carolina.  These products are hand crafted by me, thus becoming unique one-off items. From the initial design concept, through multiple digital renders and then professionally heat pressing the image onto various products, a Retro Rebirth product is a true piece of original hand crafted artwork made in the USA by an artist who really cares about what he is creating. This stuff doesn’t get mass produced and shipped on a boat from China.

I want to create designs that you will be proud to show off to others.  Lets show off our nerdy love of the groovy retro past together!  Feel free to ask me any questions or just say hello.

Much Peace,

Darrin
